Product FAQs

Why Ceramic?

In addition to being body-safe when properly made and cared for, ceramic is an amazing material for a sex toy! The glaze makes it incredibly smooth and it is firm which can be great for stimulating the g-spot and the p-spot. Ceramic is compatible with any lubricant - water-based, silicone, oil, hybrid, and is super easy to clean! Your piece is also fun for temperature play - cool it off or warm it up by running it under water for a sustained new sensation.

I create each piece to be both functional and decorative, so you can display it in your home if you so choose. A big part of SEXPLETIVE is normalizing conversations around sexuality. Each product looks beautiful and helps foster sex-positivity by creating an environment in which sexuality is not shoved in a bedside drawer, but can instead be talked about as openly and honestly as the dildo is displayed.

Ceramic is also sustainable - it is from the earth and will return to the earth if it has not been glazed. Glazed pieces will last you a lifetime. I only make pieces in response to demand, in small batches to ensure minimal waste.

Ceramic dildos additionally encourage more mindful pleasure in a world where vibrators promise to give you an orgasm in as little time as possible. You deserve to prolong your sexual pleasure, to playfully explore your body, and to slow down.

SEXPLETIVE pieces are not gendered and can feel good for everybody and every body. They have a handle for ease of use and a flared base for safe anal use.

I LOVE ceramic and I know you will too.

Is ceramic safe for intimate, internal use?

Yes! Especially when made with extreme care by someone like me :~)

I take numerous steps along the way to ensure that SEXPLETIVE ceramic dildos are as safe for use as possible.

When made and cared for properly, ceramic is completely safe. One of the reasons I started SEXPLETIVE is to provide a product that people can trust in an unregulated sex toy industry. Today, sex toys can be made out of anything, and larger corporations tend to mass produce toys with cheap, unsafe materials for a greater profit. I wanted to make something with great care and attention to detail that people can trust and enjoy for a lifetime!

Why beeswax and coconut oil candles?

Like the clay in ceramics which is of the earth, beeswax is a rich, natural material with its own energy and deep history.

Did you know that beeswax is the only type of candle that purifies the air rather than polluting it like other man-made candles? I wanted to create with a material that brings to mind thoughts of flowers, sunshine, and the eternal magic of the bee and incorporate that into my sexuality business.

However, beeswax on it’s own is not safe for wax play! It has a high melting point and will burn you! So I have incorporated organic coconut oil into my candle-making in a way that does not interfere with the integrity of the beeswax but makes the candles safe and fun for intimate play.

How do I try wax play safely?

  • Ensure you have a safe area when simply enjoying their beautiful flame of the candles or when using them for wax play. Keep candles away from anything flammable, place them on flat, stable surfaces, and do not transport candles while they are lit.

  • Always test out the wax temperature before intimately playing with it. Each person has different tolerance levels. When using candles with a partner practice consent and check in to make sure the wax is not too hot.

  • Wax can make a mess! Set up your space appropriately with something to cover your sheets so the wax does not stain and keep a glass of water nearby. Additional coconut oil can be applied to the skin beforehand to help the wax peel off more easily afterwards.

  • Blow out your candle before pouring wax. If you wait a few seconds, the wax will be a bit cooler.

  • The higher you hold the candle when pouring, the longer the wax has to cool before it reaches skin. As you become accustomed to the heat, you can reduce the distance.

  • For external use only - avoid pouring wax near the face, genitals, or anus. Wax may be more difficult to remove if it has been poured on body hair.

  • It is important to check in with your partner before, during, and after wax play to ensure they feel comfortable.

  • Due to the coconut oil in SEXPLETIVE candles, the wax can be easily removed by hand afterwards, or it can be luxuriously massaged into the skin.

How do I care for my dildo?

  • Wash with unscented soap and warm water or any sex toy cleaner before and after each use. Although ceramics are typically dishwasher safe, it is best to hand wash your product so it does not get banged around (in the bad way).

  • Check your product for cracks after receiving it in the mail and before each use. Do not use your toy if there are any cracks in the structure or the glaze.

  • When displaying, keep your SEXPLETIVE sex toy on a flat surface, away from anywhere it could be knocked over.

  • If you would like to store your toy in a bedside drawer, that is also totally fine, keep it in a soft bag to prevent any damage.

Do you take returns?

No. Due to the intimate nature of SEXPLETIVE products, SEXPLETIVE does not take returns.

I really think you’ll love your ceramic toy, however, everyone’s sexual preferences are different. SEXPLETIVE products are pleasurably functional and beautifully decorative. If ceramic is not your favorite material for intimate use, your piece doubles as sex-positive home decor.
